Stop Taking Flaxseed Oil During Pregnancy

October 31, 2008

A new study by the Universite de Montreal's Faculty of Pharmacy and the Sainte-Justine Hospital Research Center found that women who take flaxseed oil during the second and third trimester have a greater risk of having a miscarriage. They suggest you shelve the flaxseed oil during this time. However, they found that there were no risks of eating whole flaxseed. To read more about this go to www.babblebaby.com.au/strollerderby/2008/10/30/they-say-flaxseed-oil-increases-risk-of-miscarriage.html

If you are pregnant, our crackers can be a great substitute for the oil. One ounce of our crackers has 1 tablespoon of whole flax seed. To make our crackers, we soak the seeds overnight (to soften the shell so you can chew the seed) and then add all the other ingredients. Next we dehydrate them at low temperatures so all the nutrients and enzymes are preserved. So you will still get the benefits of flaxseed without the risks.

To see just some of the benefits of eating flaxseed, download our Free Report on our Home page.

Your health IS important to us.

New Study of Flaxseed and Heart Disease

October 30, 2008

If you have a cardiovascular disease, you will be interested in a study that is being conducted in Winnepeg Canada.  This is a two year study of the effects of a flaxseed enriched diet on heart disease.  To read more about this, go to http://www.cjob.com/News/Local/Story.aspx?ID=1035997.

Those conducting the study feel that those who consume the flaxseed will suffer fewer heart disease problems.  This is due to the fact that flaxseed is probably the best choice for getting omega-3 fats into your diet, especially if you are not a fish lover, Omega-3 fats are used to produce substances that reduce the formation of blood clots, which can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in patients with atherosclerosis or diabetic heart disease.

Omega-3 fats are also needed to produce flexible cell membranes. Cell membranes allow absorption of needed nutrients while promoting the elimination of wastes. While this is important for everyone, it is especially critical for people with diabetes since flexible cell membranes are better able to respond to insulin and to absorb glucose than the stiff membranes that are present when the diet is high in saturated fats.

Thanks For Stopping By to Try Our Crackers!

Thanks for stopping by our booth at the Hunstman World Seniors Games.  We enjoyed getting to know many of the participants and their friends and families that were supporting them.  You were an inspiration to all of us!

We met a woman who started taking tennis lessons at the age of 68.  She was participating in the games at the age of 70.  An 86 year old lady had at least 5 medals hanging around her neck.  She was amazing.  It made us realize that no matter what your age, you can do anything!

Most of the people who stopped by for a sample of our crackers commented how good they tasted.  Some of the participants purchased a couple bags to take on their bike competitions, or to eat before their event.  One woman shared her story about her heart attack 4 months earlier.  She has been so frustrated with her diet because she only eats bland food.  She was thrilled to find a healthy snack that she could actually eat that had flavor.

Another woman has been eating 3 tablespoons of ground flaxseed everyday because of her high cholesterol.  After several months, she had her cholesterol checked again, and it had decreased by 60%.  She did not want to take a statin drug because of the side effects.  There is a study of 50 men who have high cholesterol.  Half of the men were given a statin drug, and the other half ate 2 tablespoons of flaxseed everyday.  Over a period of time, their cholesterol was checked and all the men had about the same results.

We were glad to hear that several people use ground flaxseed on their cereal.  However, it is hard to take the ground flaxseed while traveling.  Our healthy flaxseed crackers are a delicious alternative especially when you are on the road.

Thanks again for stopping by.  Hope you enjoyed the games!
